SIX AGAIN

I remember having a debacle over which went into the bowl first; cereal or milk,

I remember thinking that babies came directly from Heaven,

I remember thinking that Santa Claus was real and that I needed to be on his nice list,

That the Tooth Fairy would exchange my tooth for a few bank notes,

I remember thinking that if I swallowed seeds, a tree would grow inside of me,

And that the world used to be entirely black and white,

And that the moon was a bold creep who would follow me wherever I went,

To be six again meant I can be carefree,

To be six again meant I can take my time and enjoy a childhood for a second time,

Relish the good old days,

To run quick into bed so the monsters under my bed would not get to me,

When I look in the mirror and I don’t like what I see,

I remember that my six year-old self would have slapped me silly and made me feel better again.

btw milk goes in first so.
