For The Love Of Music

(My go-to playlist down below👇)

“What’s there to do other than sing?”

“Music is a language that doesn’t speak in particular words. It speaks in emotions, and if it’s in the bones, it’s in the bones.” ― Keith Richards

For me, music is therapy. Music digs and delves onto roads untravelled, gems undiscovered and paths forgotten. For me music gets me through the most difficult of times. The greatest feeling though, is when when the lyrics of a beautiful song and melody hit you so hard but you don’t feel any pain, just pure ecstasy.

Don’t even get me started on the deep connections you have with the artiste, probably someone you’ve never met before! The perfect date: phone in hand, earbuds in, and I’m good to go! And the karaokes! Try belting out notes in octaves as high as Whitney Houston’s till your voice becomes pretty much non-existent. But then, you may have a beautiful voice like mine and can actually belt out notes pretty good. Talk about synergy!

Music puts me on a pedestal so high, I’d also say music is an experience in itself and with every song comes a different experience as well as a message. Some may talk about peace, others war, love, strength, forgiveness, joy, money, friendship, betrayal, in any kind of genre. Be it AfroBeats, Hip-Hop, Hip-Life, Hi-Life, Heavy Metal, Country, Rock, Gospel, RnB, Reggae, you name it.

“I think music in itself is healing. It’s an explosive expression of humanity. It’s something we are all touched by. No matter what culture we’re from, everyone loves music.” ― Billy Joel
