Tales of a Salon

Tales of a salon
Braids over weaves but…………

Hopping from salon to salon, one thing cuts across. The conversations between co-salon workers, salon owners and the customers of a salon could be likened to a therapy session.

Personally, I have not been to therapy other than what I see in the movies, however, I get all the pre and post marital counseling I need in a salon.

It amazes me how females transform when they enter a salon. This transformation has nothing to do with their hair. It’s how they let the cat out of the bag and with all their guards down. Almost like some fraternity or girls club of some sort.

Just as we are particular about our hair products and hair treatments, should we be concerned about the salon we patronize? I ask this because the things I hear sometimes…………..

I had to let go of one of my frequently visited salon not because the owner caught me with a hairstyle that was not done by her. If I am being honest, that is part of the reason but this particular hairstylist talks about things I have no interest in. She talks behind everyone of her clients back. This one is this, that one is that. Unfortunately, I was never privileged to hear what she said behind mine. Thinking about it๐Ÿค”, she most likely would have said I bargain too much ๐Ÿค—. Who knows! At least she is fair enough to talk about herself, her baby daddy and her new suitor.

Oh! The things my helpless ears have heard๐Ÿ™‰. Recently, I visited a salon for the first time and a lady about my age(you may not know my age) made a call and I quote, “Amponsah, what have I done to you? I have been calling you, neither do you answer nor return my calls. I called you with my dad’s number which you answered but upon hearing my voice, you hanged up. That’s all I wanted to say to you, I am not interested in your explanations” and she hanged up. Morale of the story, beware of Amponsah’s.

I can actually go on and on since I have been to quite a number of salons in my lifetime. There was this salon where the owner was speaking highly of her husband. She was proud of the man her husband has become as she never fathom that her husband would be who he is today. At the time they met, he was a nobody but by God’s grace he is much better off now.

In conclusion, your interests inform your choice of salon. You decide!๐Ÿ˜‰
