Having a plan is great. Settings goals is equally great. In setting plans and goals we think that once these plans and goals have been set, our lives ought to go in the direction that we have set.
I wish that’s how it works. I mean what’s the point in having a plan if nothing is going to go according to plan. Somethings will go according to plan and somethings will veer off. What do you do when life throws you a curve ball?
Being human means we have some form of limitations. We can only control the present and known. From career paths, marriage, and general life choices, life can pull some stunts and I have learnt over the years that the end justifies the means. The beauty about curve balls is that you learn, you adapt, you discover new strengths and overcome weaknesses.
Giving up and feeling discouraged is not the right way to go when things don’t go as planned. When life takes you through a different route as expected, you still have to show up and give it your best. When you don’t get that dream job, when you don’t get into the school of your choice or get to read the course you love, it shouldn’t be the end of the road for you. Trust the journey, show up and do your due diligence. You never know where the road may lead.
