How to make Plantain Fritters(kaaklo πŸ‡¬πŸ‡)

I am a sucker for any thing made of plantain especially the ripen once. You can’t trust me with your plantain ever!

Today, I will be showing you how to make plantain fritters the Ghana πŸ‡¬πŸ‡ style. On the streets it’s called kaaklo. This is a very simple recipe anyone can make.

Ingredients: Over ripened plantains Flour Salt Seasoning cube Oil for frying( either vegetable oil or palm oil)

Step 1:

Peel ripened plantains into a bowl

Step 2:

Mash peeled plantain with a masher

Step 3:

Add flour, salt and seasoning cube to mashed plantain and mix well together.

I like my plantain fritters to be soft, so for a soft consistency add just enough flour but for a thick consistency, add more flour.

Step 4:

Heat oil of choice in a frying pan and scoop portions of the mixture into the heated oil.

Fry until fritters are golden brown on both sides. To make this recipe your own, you can add pepper flakes or veggies of choice.

Can be served hot as a snack on it’s own, but best enjoyed with beans stew.
